Our tiered staffing level allows you to decide which staff you need at your event and for how many hours.   

 These packages are where we supply the staff to prepare and serve your food.

How to Book

CHOOSE YOUR STAFF

Firstly you need to work out what type of food service staff you require?  If you are serving finger food that is pre-bought and requires no heating etc you will need a standard food server.  It all depends on the level of service you want.  If you want a lot of floor service and someone to prepare the food (heat and plate) you will need a food supervisor AND food servers.  And for extra large events you will need an event supervisor.  You also need to factor in how many hours you need them for including pre-event prep time, service time and pack-down time.

LOCK IT IN EDDY!

To lock in your staff, we do require a $350 deposit when you complete the booking form online.  We do offer discount when you pay up front in full for hire packages with staff and glassware totalling greater than $800, so make sure you ask!

Our staff are well trained, well presented and in high demand. We don't hold dates or staff at all with out a deposit or payment.  So if you receive a quote from us and sit on the quote for a week or two don't be dissapointed if the staff are gone.  It's first in, first serve!  Our staff work directly for us and aren't temp staff.

Our rates are reflective of their skill level and how much we value them, so please don't ask for cheap rates because we don't provide cheap service.  We provide professional personable service with Cocktail Queen established for 20 years plus in the industry.

COMPLETE THE RUN SHEET

Once you have paid your deposit or made payment in full you will then be given access to complete your run sheet for the food staff on the day.

This is vitally important so that we can ensure the right food that you have is served at the right time.  It also allows you to factor in when the cake has to be cut, speeches and late night coffee service!

You also have the option from this point to choose one of of DIY Grazing Tables.  Everyone loves a grazing board and we can supply you with the complete setup and a shopping list to grab all the ingredients, of which your hired Cocktail Queen food supervisor will gladly put together and arrange prior to your guest attending.

Our Food Service Supervisors, will heat up your finger food, plate up the platters, and run to timings as per your request, for your event.

They will ensure that the birthday cake is placed out on time and cut up accordingly after speeches.  They oversee and operate the kitchen in an effective manner ensuring the food you have provided for your event is served to your guests.  They work with Food Service Staff who will serve the platters and finger food.  They do not work in the bar area.

Our Food Service Staff do exactly that, provide service of your finger food.  If you are catering for yourself and need food service we have reliable and efficient food service staff to offer your guests platters of food, provide general floor service and clean up your kitchen.

In some events they will assist in bar area in a complimentary capacity to a Senior Mixologist.

If you are wanting someone however to cook, prepare and plate your food then you need to hire a food supervisor.

Travel rates may be applicable.

Our team of event supervisors make sure your event runs smoothly by monitoring everything that happens behind the scenes. If you are in the need for an 'on the day' event supervisor, The Cocktail Queen has team of experts available. We make sure everyone is where they need to be and that everything is on schedule. Our supervisors work together with our professional bar, food and wait staff, ensuring your guests receive great service from start to finish. Whether you are hosting an intimate soiree or a large gathering, we are here to provide you with a flawless experience. Travel rates may be applicable.

Staff Ratios
"How may staff do I need?"

For general parties with food service, we advise that you follow the guide when hiring staff:

up to 40 guests - 1 x Staff Person - Either a Food Supervisor alone

40-70 guests - 2 x Staff Persons

70-90 guests - 3 x Staff Persons

90-110 guests- 4 x Staff Persons

110-150 - 5 to 6 Staff Persons Required.

If you are wanting staff to stand at the door upon your guests arrival with floor service in hand make sure you have hired plenty of staff.  ​If you are having a wedding reception and want staff attending to tables...make sure you have hired plenty of staff for this. ​You need additional staff for floor service.  When you don't hire enough staff for the service level you require service will be compromised.

Timings
"What is Prep and Pack-down time?"

Prep-Time is the time that your Food Supervisor will dedicate to plating up the first round of food for service or setting up your grazing tables in anticiaption of the arrival of guests.  During this time they may also be cutting up food, heating up food, shallow frying food, laying out serviettes and small plates and generally getting ready for your guests to arrive. They will not physically cook food from scratch.  You need to supply ready made food.   

When you book you will need to allocate the specific prep time you require.  This is not provided for free and you must pay for this time.  It can be anywhere from 1/2 hour to 2 hours depending on the type of event you are having and the number of guests at your event.  At time of quotation we can provide you with accurate timings if you are unsure.

Pack-down time is the time dedicated to cleaning up the kitchen and removing all the food mess from the service area and floor.  During this time it will be general clean up of kitchen, covering and storing excess food in fridge, rubbish removal to outside area location, placing left over cake in fridge etc..  When you book you will need to allocate the specific pack-down time you require.  Again this is not provided for free and you must pay for this time.  It can be anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the type of event you are having and the number of guests at your event.  At time of quotation we can provide you with accurate timings if you are unsure.

Minimum Hours
"What if I only want to hire a Food Service Staff Person for 2 hours?"

You can hire any one of our Food Service Staff for 2 hours but you will still be charged the minimum 3.5 hours.  No person wants to work for 2 hours, its simply not worth their time, and legally the minimum is 3 hours.   Our minimum is 3.5 as we value our staff want to ensure they are working a shift where they can earn great income.  

Travel Fees
"Why do you charge a travel fee for staff and how much is it?"

Our travel fees are charged as our staff utilise their own cars.  You can't expect someone to travel distances for an event and not be compensated for petrol or hours spent in a car.  We greatly value our staff so hence fees are applied.  Fees are based from our head office staff base in South Melbourne.  A once only collective fee is charged for upto 70kms, anything over this is charged per staff person.

0-20kms = $0

21-40kms = $49 - collective fee

41-50kms = $59 - collective fee

51-60kms = $69 - collective fee

61-70kms = $99 - collective fee

70-80kms = $120 - per staff person

81-100kms = $160 - per staff person

Beyond $101kms POA

 

A parking fee is applicable per staff person in inner cbd if a parking spot is not allocated.  This is $35.00
